Cupping Therapy
Cupping therapy is an ancient healing technique that has been effectively used throughout the world to prevent and cure many diseases. China, Persia, India, Europe, and Africa all have a long history of performing this healing technique.
Through utilizing vacuum suction onto the skin surface, the cups assist in the release of stagnation and promote a smooth flow of blood and qi. Cupping therapy can help with common disorders ranging from back pain, abdominal pain, stroke, high blood pressure, asthma, migraines, etc.
Cupping Therapy can be divided into two different categories dry cupping or wet cupping.
Dry cupping is the more commonly used technique done by many Chinese medicine practitioners. Dry cupping is performed by quickly inserting a flame into the glass cup to remove the air within it. This creates suction inside of the glass cup, which is then immediately placed on the skin. The suction effect that is generated by the cup, helps pull up dampness, phlegm, and toxic/stagnation blood to the surface of the skin so the lymphatic system can properly handle it. This simple technique can help with illness such as the common cold to diseases as complex as cancer. I have personally witnessed incredibly profound healings with cupping. As a result of the suction in the cup, the skin will often be left with discoloration and/or bruises. No need to worry, this is a good sign!
Wet cupping is similar to dry cupping, however, before the cup is administered to the skin, a superficial incision is made. This conjunction of bloodletting and cupping immediately helps to draw out any potential toxic/stagnate blood. This treatment is typically done for more severe conditions, nonetheless, it can also be done as a preventative treatment.
